Inés, the corpse queen
Mireia Boté
Synopsis
Darío goes to visit his parents, Ricardo and María, after two days without them answering the phone. He finds his father, who is terminally ill with lung cancer, smoking quietly in the kitchen. He is surprised to see Darío there, and rejects his attempts to take care of him. Darío will look for his mother to make his father come to his senses, and he finds her lying placidly in bed. Dead. Talking to his father, a dismayed Darío discovers that his mother died two days ago. He confronts his father for not having warned him earlier, but he, far from showing remorse, shows a strange calm about the fact that his wife is dead. And, what's worse, he seems to hint that he wants to leave. Between memories of an afternoon in his childhood in which his mother, with a twinkle in her eye, told "the greatest love story ever told"—that is, the story of Inés de Castro, the Corpse Queen—, Darío will understand his father's reasons for wanting to end his life.
